The ice in Paris Ice Cave never fully melts, even during the hottest summers. Cold water from a small brook in the surrounding hills seeps into the cave and freezes, creating its year‑round ice formations.
The cave usually becomes accessible around mid‑July, once the seasonal water flow dries up. There is a board walk bridge that crosses the ice in the lowest area of the cave.
Two separate entrances descend into the cave, where temperatures remain frigid and ice persists long after the heat above ground. Bring a flashlight and a jacket.
